Youth Team Theatre was open to all teen students (grade 8 - 12) in the Cowichan Lake area and formed a learning ground for all aspects of the craft of theatre. In 2002 - 2003, the Kaatza Lakeside Players Society and Cowichan Lake Community Services (CLCS) partnered to produce the teen theatre program. Having seasoned crew, cast and technicians work hand in hand with these young people, has proven to be a most beneficial relationship to the growth of theatre in the Cowichan Valley.
The production "What I Did Last Summer" was produced in full partnership. The play competed in Theatre BC's South Island Zone Festival in Spring 2003 at the Langham Court Theatre in Victoria earning Best Director - Dena McPhee, Best Actor - Randy Gauthier, and Best Technical/Visual - Garry McPhee, Travis Stock, Kim Peterson and Katrina Wagner.
Cowichan Lake Community Services began the Teen Theatre Program in 1995 and has involved more than 150 young people from the community. They have toured with several productions to north and south island schools to appreciate peer audiences. The majority of plays produced, deal with contemporary teen issues and have ranged from teen pregnancy to AIDS awareness.
